~~oUr Planet~~

As I was walking to class today, it was so hot and humid. Then the first thing that came into my mind was THE SUN!
I was starting to blame the sun because of the heat, the sweat, the sun burns and stuff.
But, i realized, human are to be blamed here. We are the ones who exploited Mother Nature. We burn our
wastes, cut down trees without replanting them, we mine non-renewable elements and so on. Its human's activities
that caused our ozone layer to deplete. Examples are the usage of CFC as refrigerant, open burning, the toxic fumes from
vehicle's exhaust and etc.
The Earth's atmosphere is made up of different layers. The layer
closest to the surface is called the troposphere which extends from the Earth's surface up to about 10 kilometers. The ozone layer is located above the troposphere in the stratosphere. Stratospheric ozone is Earth's natural protection for all life forms, shielding our planet from harmful ultraviolet-B (UV-B) radiation. UV-B radiation is harmful to humans, animals, and plant life. The ozone layer is being destroyed by certain industrial chemicals including ozone depleting refrigerants, halons, and methyl bromide, a deadly pesticide used on crops.
(UV-B) radiation causes skin cancer, cataracts and immune suppression in both animals and humans. UV-B also damages plants including hardwood forests, and phytoplankton which is the building block of the oceanic food chain.
I really hope that our future generation will have a wonderful world to live in as in how we did. I really hope that education can change the mindset of people. Lets go green and save the planet!
